You may be asking yourself why is this website restricted to 40 columns, and 4 colours. The reason for that is it is designed to be viewable using an Acorn BBC Micro in Modes 0 or 1 which has a limited palette of 4 colours at a resolution of 320 x 256.
In the past I've written a basic web viewer in 6502 which used Mode 7 for maximum text colours, it worked well for Web 1.0 pages but there were just too many tags to include for a fully functioning browser. I have a python server that when connected to the Beeb via serial can scrape a site, convert images to BBC 'bitmaps' in modes 0,1 and 2, complete forms and navigate links via a hyperlinks menu. Whilst this is good pages obviously don't display as they would on a modern browser. So I wanted to create a corner of the web that is designed for the Beeb where pages appear as they were intended...plus it's fun
